InterContinental Hotels Group had the official opening of another InterContinental resort in the South Pacific. It will set new benchmarks for a luxurious hotel experience in the South Pacific and join a growing network of InterContinental resorts in the region and around the world.
Located on the Coral Coast of the main island of the Fiji group of islands, Viti Levu, the Natadola Marine Resort project covers 640 hectares of costal property and is set to become one of the region’s premier tourism destinations.
InterContinental Resort Fiji is situated on Natadola’s main beach, featuring 275 rooms including beachside accommodation, garden rooms and hilltop villas with private plunge pools and a world class 18 hole golf course. The resort also offers a stand-alone spa, a Club, InterContinental Lounge and a choice of exceptional restaurants as well as access to the golf course, racquet club and other impressive facilities established as part of the broader development.
It was a privilege to be involved in this project which will complement the natural beauty of the Natadola coastline and become one of the biggest resort attractions in the South Pacific region.
OBJECTIVE
This was an 18 month project (from start to finish) and managed by av Media Systems Brisbane. Despite the obvious logistical constraints, we strategically managed the delivery of all the equipment in one 40’ container to Fiji along with tools required for the job.
Our primary objective was to ensure that we could deliver the project on time, despite a very tight schedule, and within our budget quoted to InterContinental Hotels.
Our secondary objective was to raise the standard of audio visual fit-out that InterContinental Hotel Group was previously accustomed to and display to the Group our quality of workmanship, project management and systems integration skills.
We were very pleased how the InterContinental Hotel management team demonstrated their confidence in our project management expertise and technical skills.
HIGHLIGHTS
Digital Signage
Ten 32” weatherproof LCD panels were situated at various areas around the resort to utilize digital signage. This will enable resort management to upload any messages, video or power point presentation immediately to one or all display units.
Chapel Audio System
A state of the art audio system was installed in the Chapel located on the beach with the ocean as the backdrop. The audio speakers (6) were selected and strategically placed to compliment the high cathedral ceilings utilizing the existing natural acoustics in the Chapel.
A feedback suppressor was also installed to enable anyone using the handheld or lapel microphone to move freely around the chapel without any chance of feedback by standing beneath any speakers.
Beach Bar
9 Bose speakers with handheld and lapel microphones have been installed giving the bar area quality club style sound. In addition Environmental surface mount speakers were also mounted in the pools perimeter allowing music to be piped out to guests sunbathing by the pool.
